The New York Giants have received a ton of criticism for their decision to select Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Some have called it a reach, while others have said that they made the pick due to racial reasons instead of Dwayne Haskins. No matter what the criticism is, the Giants made the selection and Jones is their quarterback of the future.

Standing in at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, Jones is the ideal size for an NFL quarterback. Unfortunately, outside of his size, there isn't much there that shows he has star potential in the league.

Last season with the Blue Devils, Jones ended up completing 60.5 percent of his pass attempts for 2,674 yards, 22 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Those numbers show why some fans and media members are unhappy with the selection. Haskins certainly put up better production in college at Ohio State.

Eli Manning is still the starter in New York, although that may change this season. He has been rumored to be on his way out of town for the past two years, but Pat Shurmur and company have remained loyal to him.

All of that being said, let's go ahead and look at three bold predictions that can be made for Jones in his rookie season with the Giants.

Daniel Jones, Giants

3. New York Makes Him the Starter By Week 8

It won't take long for the Giants to make the switch at quarterback to their first round pick. Manning has shown over the last few years that he simply isn't the guy that can get them back to the playoffs. Getting Jones experience and letting him play will be important for his development.

While the Giants will give Manning a chance to start the year, he will be replaced by Jones by Week 8. That will give the rookie half a season to show what he is made of and to learn the game on the field.

2. Jones Will Show Flashes, Throwing for 2,000 Yards, 20 Touchdowns

Playing in New York is never an easy task for a young player, especially with the media already harassing him and calling him a bust. Even with the added pressure, Jones is going to flashes of brilliance. He will throw for at least 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in a short season.

That's right, Jones is going to show some success this year. He may have some rough patches, but there is no denying that he has a lot of raw talent to work with. New York will be very happy to see him come through with some big plays and games in the second half of the year.

1. Unfortunately, Jones Will Also Throw 14 Interceptions

Finally, there is going to be one major issue for Jones in his rookie season. At the NFL level, defenses are much quicker and harder to read. That will result in a turnover issue for the young quarterback.

Jones will throw 14 interceptions to go with his 20 touchdowns. That won't be something that validates the “bust” label that some have given him, but it will give him something major to work on. Despite the turnovers, his rookie season will still be a success when everything is said and done.
