The Dallas Cowboys hosted the Denver Broncos and got embarrassed in front of their home crowd. Their offense simply couldn't get anything going as they were embarrassed on that side of the ball.

Dallas is still playing very well this season and they're hoping that this is just a bump in the road. They sit comfortably at 6-2, and in first place of the NFC East.

Let's take a look at some takeaways from the Cowboys' week 9 performance.

Cowboys Week 9 Takeaways

3. The inevitable Cowboys crash

Everybody knows that it's going to happen eventually. It's happened for the past decade. The Cowboys always have a point in the season where they look like they're one of the worst teams in football and just can't win a game. In fairness to the Cowboys, this is the best team that they've had in quite some time. If history repeats itself, we all know what's going to happen. The Cowboys will finish with eight or nine wins in the season and struggle to make the playoffs. It was just a matter of time before things got ugly in Dallas. It looks like this week's game against the Broncos might be the start of it.

The Cowboys will try to lose this narrative and flush this game down the drain. They can beat that narrative by coming out in the next few weeks and taking care of business.

2. Dak Prescott won't always be this bad

Dak had one of his worst games as a Cowboy. He made some bad passes today. He was overthrowing his receivers and just couldn't get anything going for this Dallas offense.

It's not all entirely on Dak. Their whole offense looked out of sync on Sunday. They've been one of the better offenses in the league and their play shouldn't continue to look that bad past this week. The Cowboys will figure it out offensively. Dak's going to be as good as he usually is in the weeks to come.

1. Trevon Diggs is getting targeted

Trevon Diggs does have an impressive amount of interceptions this season. He had a few penalties that hurt the Cowboys' defense. He also gave up a 44-yard touchdown when he was in coverage. The problem with Diggs is that when he's not intercepting a pass, he's not really doing much for this Cowboys' defense. The Broncos came right at him today and kept throwing passes to his side of the field. Teams are starting to realize that he's not a great coverage defensive back. This is something that the Cowboys need to take note of for the rest of the season

As a Cowboy fan, you have to be thinking that their annual crash is coming. Luckily for the Cowboys, this is the most talented team that they've had in a long time. If they can just regroup after this tough loss everything will be fine.

Dallas will take on the Falcons next Sunday in a game that they should win. This will be good for Dallas to get back on track and continue playing the football that they were playing prior to this weekend.
