The New York Jets have been a complete circus in the NFL for a long time. They have not made the playoffs since 2010. In that span, New York has had just one winning season when it missed the postseason thanks to a Week 17 loss to the Bills. The Jets entered free agency with a ton of money and the goal of improving at many positions. They added franchise quarterback Sam Darnold during the 2018 draft and now have to get players to put around him.

Free agency started off hot for the Jets. They landed Jamison Crowder, who has been a slot receiver for the Redskins for his entire career. They added C.J. Mosley on a big contract and had a verbal commitment from Anthony Barr. The linebacker corps was set to be dominant, but Barr rescinded his original promise and decided to return to Minnesota. The Jets finished up free agency by adding Le'Veon Bell. This caused a schism in the front office. The Jets recently fired general manager Mike Maccagnan because he and new head coach Adam Gase did not see eye-to-eye on the signings.

Long story short, the Jets are still a dumpster fire. Firing a general manager shortly after free agency and the draft does not make much sense. Maccagnan is out and Gase will have more power. Heading into OTAs, the Jets will have some decisions to make on who will make the final roster.

These are three players who will be on the bubble heading into 2019.

3. MyQuon Stout

Stout is a 23-year-old defensive lineman out of Appalachian State. If there is one position on the Jets that is set, it is their defensive line. The front seven for New York will be solid this season. It is even stronger with the addition of No. 3 overall pick Quinnen Williams. He is a three-down player who will start from day one. With backups in place, this leaves little room for Stout to make the 53-man roster. He has potential, so the Jets may decide to keep him on the practice squad. As for the opening day roster, it is unlikely.

2. Davis Webb

Webb was an experiment for the Giants who never panned out. He was one of the quarterbacks who was supposed to be a replacement for Eli Manning. That was not the case. Webb was let go by the Giants and ended up across town with the Jets. There was never any plan for Webb to be the savior for the Jets. They hope to have found that in Darnold. With Trevor Siemian serving as Darnold's backup, this leaves no room for Webb. Luke Falk out of Washington State is also on the Jets' roster. He is the perfect third-string quarterback if the Jets decide to carry three. If not, Falk will be on the practice squad while Webb will be looking for a new team.

1. Ty Montgomery

The wide receiver turned running back signed with the Jets this offseason. He began his career in Green Bay, which turned him into a running back because of injuries in the Packers' backfield. After disobeying coaches' orders and running a kickoff out of the end zone in a game against the Rams, he was benched and eventually traded to the Ravens. If you do not remember the play, Montgomery fumbled the kickoff and did not allow Aaron Rodgers to get a chance at tying the game.

Montgomery is now in New York, but it might be a short-lived stay. The Jets added Bell, who will serve as their three-down back. His ability to run and catch out of the backfield makes him one of the best backs in football. Elijah McGuire has been impressive when playing and will be Bell's backup. It is hard to imagine a situation where Montgomery will climb up the depth chart. Come training camp, the Jets will see that there is no point in having Montgomery on the roster.
