The Jimmy Garoppolo era in San Francisco is officially underway, and 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan seems pretty giddy about the entire thing.

On Sunday, the former New England Patriots backup led the 49ers to a come from behind victory against the awful Chicago Bears. In turn, Kyle Shanahan admitted after the game that watching Jimmy Garoppolo do it was legitimately fun.

“I thought it was a good first start,” Shanahan said. “He handled the offense well. He definitely moved the chains. It’ll be fun to go back and watch the tape. … For his first time doing it, especially without being here [all season], it was pretty impressive. It was fun to watch him do some real good things, and it was fun to watch him lead us to a win.”

Handsome Jimmy had a fine day. While he never got San Francisco in the endzone, he did lead the Niners to a position to earn five field goals. Obviously, having hindsight pressed against our back, we now know that those points were enough.

On the day, Handsome Jimmy finished with 293 yards through the air. While he had no touchdowns, and did manage to leave with an interception, Garoppolo completed 70 percent of his pass attempts.
