The San Francisco 49ers have seemingly emerged as a legitimate frontrunner to try and sign New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. It appears the rumors have even spurred a response from tight end George Kittle.

Kittle took to Instagram to defend quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo amidst all the speculation surrounding Brady:

Kittle's response should hardly come as any surprise. He has developed quite a rapport with Garopplo since the latter's arrival and their close relationship was well-documented during their Super Bowl run in the 2019 NFL season.

More importantly, their chemistry has translated well to the field. Kittle has established himself as arguably the best tight end in the NFL thanks to his complete skill set as both a viable pass-catcher and blocker. Of course, it his his status as the No. 1 option and safety net for Garoppolo that has helped him solidify this notion.

The 49ers found a recipe for success that included a run-heavy approach on offense while the defense led the way with their dominant outing in the 2019 NFL season. Although they did not pass very often, the ball would end up in Kittle's hands more often than not and this scheme led them to the Super Bowl.

Unfortunately, Garoppolo's shortcomings under center were brought to light after failing to pull his own weight. As a result, the prospect of replacing him with Brady has started to gain some steam. Regardless, it is clear that even the idea of playing with a six-time Super Bowl winner does not appeal much to Kittle.
