Jed York, the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, was once technically the man signing Colin Kaepernick's checks. With the still young quarterback remaining without a job in the NFL, while becoming the focal point for civil unrest, whenever someone talks about the gunslinger, it is a big deal.

Depending on how you view things, as well as Colin Kaepernick, you are going to take what Jed York had to say about the NFL allegedly blackballing him with a grain of salt.

On the heels of Kaepernick filing a grievance against the NFL, the 49ers owner shared his thoughts:

“It's very difficult for me to say that with Colin being here for a long period of time,” York said, as written by ESPN. “Obviously, there's the lawsuit that's going on, so it's hard for me to get into any details or really share my opinion, but I don't believe that there's base to that claim that he's being blackballed.”

For whatever it is worth, at least apparently, York understands both the idea that some fans just want to stick to football, but that players would like it if people heard their message.

“I think we want to have a better partnership and a better understanding of one another to say, ‘We would like to get back to just playing football.' I don't think anybody should be ashamed of saying that because our fans are telling you we want to get back to football. But our players are saying, ‘We want our message to be heard clearly and loudly,' and that's what we're trying to figure out. … We're not going to make you stand, and we want to make our country and our communities a better place, not because you're forcing us to but because we're compelled to. I think that's the important thing here.”

This will likely continue to play out over the next several weeks. With players and (some) owners meeting on a semi-regular basis to discuss matters, at least there has been relative progress.
