The San Francisco 49ers are considered one of the top potential destinations for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, but the 49ers have not actually made a strong effort to trade for him yet, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Garafolo says that Brown and 49ers legend Jerry Rice have talked and have tried to lay the groundwork for a potential deal, but San Francisco's organization itself is yet to really get moving.

Garafolo added that the Steelers haven't really had trade talks with any team at this point, so it's entirely possible that the idea just has not been broached by Pittsburgh.

Keep in mind that the Steelers are seeking a first-round draft pick in exchange for Brown, something that a rebuilding Niners franchise may not be willing to surrender for a 31-year-old wideout who has caused locker-room issues in Pittsburgh.

That being said, the 49ers are in desperate need of a wide receiver, as their only reliable threat in the passing game is tight end George Kittle, who broke the record for most single-season receiving yards by a tight end this past season.

Brown is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he hauled in 104 receptions for 1,297 yards and a league-leading 15 touchdowns en route to his sixth straight Pro Bowl selection and seventh trip to Honolulu overall.

However, a string of incidents that ultimately led to his benching for the Steelers' season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals has led to Pittsburgh aiming to put him on the trading block this offseason.
