The Athletic did an anonymous poll of NFL players asking them if they believed Colin Kaepernick should still be playing in the league. 95 percent of players said that they think that the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback should be in the league right now.

Of the 85 current defensive players who agreed to participate in the poll, 81 of them believe that he should be.  Two players disagreed entirely, and two other players were indifferent to the whole question itself.

Nearly 20 percent of the players who voted agreed that he should replace Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles; Around 18 percent believe the same for Oakland Raiders quarterback Additionally, 20 percent of voters said they would replace Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles with Kaepernick, and 18 percent said the same about Oakland Raiders quarterback Nathan Peterman.

Kaepernick was originally released by the 49ers because of his decision to neal during the national anthem before games. For him, it was a decision to use his platform to spread his message against the increasing amount of police brutality to African-Americans across the country.

The team decided to cut him because he was a distraction. He became a figure of social justice, and the team did not want the media storm to affect their play as a whole. He was infamously released, as the 49ers decided to tear it all down and rebuild.
