When Adam Gase took the job as head coach of the New York Jets, there were some people who expected the team to improve in 2019. Instead, New York has actually gotten worse and there seems to be just as many issues off the field as on it. Along with Gase, the Jets decided to add Le'Veon Bell in free agency.

This develops the story the Jets had hoped to write in 2019. Bell was acquired to provide Sam Darnold with some help in the backfield. While the fans in New York were fans of the signing, there were reports that stated that Gase was never on board with bringing the All-Pro running back in.

Despite not being a fan of the move at first, Gase must rely on Bell if he wants to keep his job with the Jets. That begins in Week 10 against the New York Giants, who are also having struggles of their own.

At this moment, the Jets have gotten off to a 1-7 start. Above all, they are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 9. With the loss, Miami secured their first victory of the season and fans in the Big Apple are growing tireless of Gase already.

To get back on track, Gase would be wise to begin using Bell in a more prominent role in the offense. Whether he likes it or not, Bell is getting paid $52.5 million over four years. Therefore, you might as well utilize him to help your offense.

Before arriving in New York, Bell was known as arguably the most versatile running back in the NFL. With the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bell had three seasons of having 330+ touches and over 1,800 yards from scrimmage.

As for this season, the dual-threat back has totaled only 657 yards on 165 touches and only two touchdowns. Provided that, there is absolutely no reason why Bell shouldn't be the focal point of the offensive gameplan.

With Darnold continuing to struggle in his second season, Bell should be used to help alleviate some pressure off of the young quarterback's shoulders. A successful running game can be a quarterback's best friend.

Through the first nine weeks, Bell has only been given more than 15 rushing attempts in four games. Among those games, three of them came in the first three weeks.

For Gase, his job could be hanging in the balance depending on how this season concludes. The offensive-minded coach will have a chance to make his case if he begins to involve Bell in the offense more.
