Blake Christian has wrestled in AEW on two occasions, both of which occurred at Dark tapings in Orlando, Florida.

Though he has secured a win in the promotion, besting Rohit Raju in a match televised via Youtube on March 3rd of 2022, Christian, who was known as Trey Baxter during his limited run in NXT, has only appeared in one more match since, a loss to Jay Lethal that aired on June 21st and hasn't been seen on Dynamite, Rampage, or even Dark Elevation since.

And yet, since his Dark match aired on Tuesday, Christian has been tweeting about AEW and specifically Forbidden Door pretty much non-stop, with 75 different tweets or re-tweets about the event, or the two promotions running it.

Could this be a coincidence? Sure, maybe Christian is just excited about the forthcoming show and wants to make sure all 15,000 of his followers know when and where to watch it. Maybe he plans on live-tweeting the show and wants to get a headstart on algorithm optimization.

Or maybe, just maybe, Blake Christian is Bryan Danielson's handpicked replacement for his match against Zack Sabre Jr. and a spot in the Blackpool Combat Club's bout versus the Jericho Appreciation Society at Blood and Guts. I mean, probably not, but Christian is one of the most athletic wrestlers in the game today, he did retweet AEW's announcement of the match, and he does already have an original theme written by Mikey Rukus for his appearance at Supercard of Honor – in which he lost to Colt Cabana – so who knows; anything is possible if you're All Heart.

Blake Christian would be a fantastic mystery opponent at AEW's Forbidden Door.

Blake Christian broke into the major independent wrestling circuit in 2019, when, four months after his first official match according to Cagematch, he secured a win over KTB at GCW's Lights Out Pay-Per-View. A collegiate cheerleader, Christian quickly amassed a following on the indies for his incredible feats of athleticism, including incredible moves like the frog splash, the 450 Stomp, and the springboard 450 splash.

Over the course of his independent career, Christian secured wins over the likes of AJ Gray, Jake Atlas, and Joey Janela for promotions like GCW, PWG, and Warrior, and even caught on with NJPW Strong and Impact Wrestling before ultimately landing in WWE, where he was re-packaged as Trey Baxter as a member of their 2021 class alongside Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, and the performer once and currently known as Taya Valkyrie. Though he only wrestled a dozen matches for The Fed split between NXT and 205 Live before being released back onto the indies, he returned to his former moniker in a big way, wrestling like likes of Jack Cartwheel for GCW, Alec Price for Beyond, and Will Ospreay in a pair of matches for the Warrior Wrestling Championship.

Is Christian the perfect heir apparent to Bryan Danielson, who is world-renowned for his impeccable striking and exceptional abilities as a technical performer? Well no, Christian is known much more for his Dante Martin-style moves than ones typically used by Wheeler Yuta, but at only 24, there's a lot of room to grow before he reaches his prime. Who knows, maybe Danielson understands that you can't teach the athleticism Christian can pull off in the ring but you can technical mastery, making him a perfect developmental apprentice from which to build the perfect wrestler. Either way, we will find out soon enough, as Forbidden Door is less than a day away.
