The Los Angeles Angels are mulling all options when it comes to getting this roster to the postseason, and the club surprisingly has not ruled out a move involving star outfielder Mike Trout. According to Jeff Fletcher, the Angels are considering removing Trout from his usual role at center field, utilizing him in an alternative defensive role instead.

Should the team move Trout of center field, it's believed that young outfielder Brandon Marsh would be called upon to fill the gap. Trout would likely slot into right field, or possibly left field, as a result. The team has yet to make a final decision regarding the positional change for the renowned best player in baseball, but with Trout now 30-years-old, the team may feel more comfortable with a younger player out in center field.

Marsh featured in 70 games last season, filling in at center field while Trout was sidelined by injury. He had a solid year, slashing .254/.317/.356 with 2 home runs in 236 at-bats. He's far superior defensively compared to in the batter's box, enough so that the Angels are considering him as the replacement to Trout in center field, should they decide to go forth with their plans.

Of course, there are zero plans to actually move on from Trout, who signed a massive 12-year deal with the organization. After he featured in just 36 games in 2021, however, the team is looking to protect his health at all costs, starting by moving him out of center field and putting him in a less demanding defensive position.
