Carlos Correa has long been rumored to be on the way out of the Houston Astros. His latest move could be the death knell for his time in Texas.

The Astros free agent is reportedly hiring power agent Scott Boras in a move that's sure to be centered on getting the best deal possible with some massive dollar signs.

“I have made the decision to hire Boras Corporation to represent me moving forward,” said the Astros star in a statement to ESPN. “Boras Corporation offers the highest level of baseball expertise and proven experience.”

The Astros had previously been reported with an offer of $160 million over five years for their prized shortstop. However, based on the market for young stars cashing in on their first big-money deal that figure is far off from what Correa knows he could get elsewhere.

Signing on with Scott Boras is a huge step towards getting that payday, as he's negotiated deals for Bryce Harper, Anthony Rendon, Max Scherzer, and Gerrit Cole. Boras also brokered fellow shortstop Corey Seager's massive extension with the Los Angeles Dodgers, which netted him $325 million through 10 years, basically the same annual amount as the Astros' offer with double the guaranteed money and years. Bridging that figure with where Houston's offer is now is a mighty long way

The move isn't a 100% guarantee that Carlos Correa is leaving. But the writing is certainly on the wall with this latest move.
