Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi has expressed his desire to land a coaching job at Barcelona in the future.

Two months after shattering Barcelona fans by his decision to leave for PSG, Lionel Messi is now talking about a possible return to his former club.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner said in a recent exclusive interview that it might not be with Barcelona, but he has always viewed himself playing a role in a club's coaching staff. Of course, if given the opportunity, Messi wants it  to be with his boyhood club.

“Yes. I always said that I would love to be able to help the club in what could be useful and can add and help the club to be well,” Messi said of Barcelona via Spanish outlet Diario Sport. “I would love to be a technical secretary at some point.”

“I don't know if it will be at Barcelona or not,” he continued. “Or if it will be otherwise. If there is a possibility, I would like to contribute again in what I can because it is the club that I love and I would love for it to continue to be good, to continue growing and to continue being one of the best in the world.”

As things stand, Barcelona had just sacked Ronald Koeman and the club is now heavily linked to signing Messi's former co-star and Camp Nou legend Xavi Hernandez.

While nothing is concrete yet, Xavi is reportedly expected to take over Koeman's place once his contract with Qatari club Al Sadd terminates.
