New Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang aims to provide versatility to the Catalan side's attack for the remainder of the season.

Barca club officials completed their winter transfer window activity with the signing of Aubameyang. After the veteran forward and Arsenal club officials came to terms on a contract termination agreement, Barca swooped in to haul him in via a free transfer deal. He agreed to a three-year deal with Barca, although there is an option to agree to a departure following the 2022-2023 campaign.

Overall, the now-former Arsenal striker is eager to feature in La Liga for the first time in his career and seeks to do what he can to bolster Barca’s attack, which he touched on during his presentation with the club on Thursday.

“I have always had the dream of playing in La Liga and it is an incredible opportunity,” Aubameyang said. “It's been a dream since I was a kid. It's the opportunity of a lifetime, Barca is one of the best clubs in the world.”

Much has already been talked about regarding just how Aubameyang will fit in Barca manager Xavi Hernandez’s prototypical 4-3-3 setup. Regardless of the formation, the new Barca striker is much open to playing multiple attacking positions.

“I've talked a little bit with the coach, he sees me as 9,” Aubameyang said. “If one day he needs me on the wing, there would be no problem.”

Aubameyang also added that he aims to do what he can to help the club achieve UEFA Champions League triumph. For Barca to take a step forward in this feat, the side would first need to qualify for next season’s Champions League competition, whether by winning the Europa League or by finishing in the top-four of the final La Liga standings.

Aubameyang will feature in both competitions this season, and he could go on to make his league debut with Barca in its upcoming home clash with Atletico Madrid.
