Barcelona are in trouble. They might still be second in La Liga, but their recent home performances are becoming a cause for concern. After all, Blaugrana fans have never seen the team struggle this much at home.

Xavi's men bowed down to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday 1-0, with Alvaro Garcia Rivera finding the back of the net in the seventh minute and the visitors defending well to maintain their lead throughout. It was Barcelona's second straight La Liga defeat at Camp Nou, and it's third home loss in a row including their 3-2 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League earlier in the month.

Now, according to ESPN Stats and Info, it's the first time in club history they have lost three straight at home in a single season. It has also been 14 years since they lost back-to-back league fixtures. Not to mention that their four home defeats this year are the most they have since the 2002-03 season.

Naturally, Xavi and the rest of Barcelona are not happy with their recent poor form at home. This is a team who prides itself of delivering quality performances in front of home fans, but that identity was nowhere to be seen this April.

“I leave angry, disappointed, because today was a golden opportunity,” Xavi said of their defeat and winless streak. “It’s a repeat of what happened against Eintracht, like the day against Cádiz. We lacked a lot of effectiveness.

“I think we created a lot of clear chances to at least equalize. If we equalized with enough time, I think we would have won it. We have complicated our own qualification for the Champions League. We have to be self-critical and grow.”

For what it's worth, Barcelona hasn't lost a road game for 13 straight matches now. They do have five draws in that span, but it is certainly incredible that they have been able to hold on even in a hostile environment. That makes their home drought even more confusing.

Hopefully, though, Barcelona will be able to end that ugly skid sooner rather than later.
