Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields was expected to start in Week 18 against the Minnesota Vikings after missing time with an ankle injury. However, Fields has been hit with another unfortunate setback that will end his season as he just tested positive for COVID-19.

Via the team's Twitter:

This game means basically nothing for the Bears but it was a chance for Fields to finish his campaign on a high note. There's also a good chance it will be head coach Matt Nagy's last time on the sidelines because it's widely expected he will be fired this offseason.

It hasn't been a rather average season for Fields in Year One, completing 159 passes on 270 attempts for a 58.9 completion percentage and seven touchdowns. He's also fumbled 12 times, thrown 10 interceptions, and been sacked 36 times. But, the Bears signal-caller hasn't received much protection in the pocket.

There's no doubt he is the quarterback of the immediate future for Chicago, but it'll be interesting to see how he does next season with a new coach at the helm. With Fields sidelined on Sunday, it looks like Andy Dalton will get another start, although he was rather ineffective in Week 17. Veteran Nick Foles could also see some snaps as the Bears look to finish the campaign with their third-straight victory.
