The Chicago Bears have invested much into second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to take over the reigns as being the long-term answer under center. The franchise has made that notion quite clear this offseason with the various moves that they have put forth to build around him.

It has set the stage for Trubisky to take another leap forward in his development heading into his first full offseason program as an NFL quarterback. With that in mind, new head coach Matt Nagy has voiced nothing but praise toward the 23-year-old through the first few days of the team organized workouts, according to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.

“I just got done talking to Mitch just a little bit ago, pulled him to the side and just told him really how amazed I was at how he got through this first day,” Nagy said on Tuesday. “He was impressive. I don’t want to put too much on him. But at the same time, he needs to understand that was pretty good, what just happened.

“Mitch is a very smart kid. He’s intelligent, very driven, motivated. A lot of the things we talk about as a team, he has. For him to be our quarterback and to have those traits, it’s hard to not smile.”

Trubisky has the opportunity in front of him to truly to showcase that he can become a viable starting quarterback in the NFL next season. The team has added several proven players to make that transition a smoother one with acquisitions of former Pro Bowl wide receiver Allen Robinson, tight end Trey Burton and wide receiver Taylor Gabriel.

The Bears also have in the backfield Pro Bowl running back Jordan Howard, who has quickly risen up to being recognized as one of the top young players at his position. The pieces are in place for Trubisky to take that next step and his strong impression on the coaching staff could bode well for things to come this upcoming season.

He will have the reigns to take more control of the offense in his second campaign to breakthrough for a promising year while leading Chicago to success.
