The Chicago Bears have been surrounded with rumors about potential changes at the quarterback position this offseason. After suffering through a rough and inconsistent season from Mitchell Trubisky in 2019, the team may very well be going after an intriguing quarterback in free agency. That potential free agency target is none other than New Orleans Saints' impending free agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Adam Jahns of The Athletic brought up the potential fit for the Bears in free agency.

There always is a demand for quarterbacks, and Bridgewater’s success over five starts (all wins) last season for the Saints surely will result in a new deal elsewhere for him. He’s a good story who might be worth it, too.

I would just guard against overpaying if I’m the Bears.

Bridgewater would be an excellent target for the Bears if they choose to bring in another quarterback. Adding Tom Brady or Philip Rivers wouldn't make sense, as neither signal-caller would be able to be a long-term option. On the opposite side of things, Bridgewater would be the kind of player Chicago could build around moving forward.

Last season in the nine games he played with the Saints, Bridgewater completed 67.9 percent of his pass attempts for 1,384 yards, nine touchdowns, and just two interceptions. He was able to keep New Orleans firing on all cylinders even without superstar quarterback Drew Brees.

There are going to be quite a few teams with interest in Bridgewater this offseason. Teams like the Los Angeles Chargers, Carolina Panthers, and Indianapolis Colts could make sense. Chicago certainly shouldn't be viewed as a front-runner to sign him.

All of that being said, the Bears are going to be an interesting team to keep an eye on this coming offseason.
