Kobe Bryant has officially taken his place among the Los Angeles Lakers legends as his No. 8 and No. 24 jerseys now hang in the rafters alongside some of the franchise’s other all-time great players at Staples Center.
After much speculation, the Lakers decided to use two separate jerseys for their unprecedented move to retire Bryant’s two numbers. It was also revealed earlier by the two black pieces of concealing fabric that the two jerseys would be separated by legendary announcer Chick Hearn’s retired jersey.
After the reveal, it seems as if the Lakers made the right move of separating Bryant’s two jerseys. The sight of his two jerseys being side by side would’ve looked a bit off, and the jersey of Hearn and his mic was the perfect one to place as a buffer in between the two of them.
All in all, Kobe’s jerseys look right at home alongside the other Laker greats like Magic Johnson, Jerry West, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. His incredible career achievements more than warrant his unique honor of having both of his jersey numbers hanging in the rafters at Staples Center, where they will be for years and years to come.
