Prior to the NBA draft, top overall pick Ben Simmons was rumored to be more into playing for the Los Angeles Lakers rather than the Philadelphia 76ers.

Surely, a photo of him wearing a Magic Johnson jersey and a reported rejection of a workout invite from the Sixers, which he eventually attended, helped fan some conspiracy flames. But the stars aligned for him to bring hope to a franchise that has been the NBA’s cellar dwellers for a number of years.

In a report by ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk, Simmons gave every Sixers fan more reasons to be excited of their team’s future by professing how pleased he is with his situation.

“It is pretty perfect. I could not be in a better situation.”

It also helped that big men Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid already had an existing relationship with the versatile forward. Come regular season play, Simmons should expect free meals from both centers as gratitude for his precise passes.

“I've known them since 10th grade so we have had that chemistry for a while. As soon as we hit the court, hopefully it is the same. I am looking forward to playing with them.”

With Ben Simmons in tow, the city of Philadelphia will be treated to an excitement level that has been absent from the area for quite a while already.
