USC and UCLA shocked the college football world when they announced they would be leaving the Pac-12 for the Big Ten. It was 2022's installment of a trend becoming increasingly paramount in college football: realignment. The Big-12 experienced it last year when Texas and Oklahoma bolted for the SEC. Amid all the chaos, new Big-12 commissioner Brett Yormack dropped a bombshell on potential interest in Pac-12 schools, per Max Olson of The Athletic.

Yormack said that the Big-12 is “exploring all options” and is “open for business.” But in the biggest bombshell, the commissioner said that the college football conference has “received a lot of phone calls” and “a lot of interest.”

It sure sounds like Yormack is insinuating that USC and UCLA might not be the only teams set to bolt from the Pac-12. That would be potentially devastating for the conference.

However, the Big-12 needs to recover from last year's shockwave. What better way to do so than by making a splash in the conference realignment game?

And Yormack, who was introduced as the Big-12 commissioner on Wednesday, is making it clear that the conference will be very active.

There have been reports stating that the Big-12 has talked with Pac-12 schools, such as Arizona State and Arizona, about a possible move. Of course, as Yormack said, “nothing is imminent.” However, it wouldn't be a surprise to see another 2022 college football conference move, given the interest.

Especially with an aggressive new Big-12 commissioner like Brett Yormack. Stay tuned, college football fans.
