Bill Walton is a national treasure and must be protected at all costs. The Hall of Fame basketball player has been an announcer for Pac-12 basketball on ESPN for quite some time now. However, it's not his clarity or fantastic description of the game that captures our interests, rather, it's his hilarious antics.

You never know what you're going to get when listening to Bill Walton on the mic. During Saturday's matchup between the Oregon State Beavers and Colorado Buffaloes, Walton couldn't help but imitate the two animals throughout the game:

Bill Walton is truly an interesting character. He makes tremendously odd analogies when describing players, always saying “going amongst the trees” whenever a guard goes up against a center in the paint. He's also known to ramble on about Thomas Edison, Tom Petty, and other numerous celebrities Walton possibly idolizes.

For anyone who watches Pac-12 basketball on ESPN, this is nothing new. However, taking up animal sounds seems to be Bill Walton's go-to move this year, as he also imitated the sound of a buffalo throughout the broadcast as well:

Bill Walton played for the prestigious UCLA team back in the 1970s, averaging 20.3 points and 15.7 rebounds per game. Assists weren't tallied until his junior year, and he averaged 5.5 during the 1973-74 season. He went on to the NBA and played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Clippers (played in San Diego during his time), and Boston Celtics. He won two rings during his 14 years in the NBA.

Listening to Walton announce games, one wouldn't think he had such a prominent basketball career. With his crazy antics during broadcasts, it's hard to catch any of his basketball knowledge, as he'll sprinkle it in between making animal sounds and talking about the Grateful Dead.

Bill Walton might not be an ideal color commentator, but he is entertaining nonetheless.
