The Buffalo Bills head into their Week 16 matchup against the New England Patriots a bit short handed. Earlier in the week, it was announced that quarterback Josh Allen's favorite slot target, Cole Beasley, was placed into the the league's COVID-19 protocols. On Friday, Josh Allen appears to have lost another weapon.

According to ESPN Bills reporter Alaina Getzenberg, Gabriel Davis is now also headed for the COVID-19 reserve list.

Gabriel Davis had become one of Josh Allen's key offensive weapons lately. Davis has 157 receiving yards on 19 catches and four receiving touchdowns over the last three games alone. He had taken on a more prominent role as fellow wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders has been dealing with a knee issue. The knee injury kept Sanders out of action in Week 15.

The Bills are reportedly hopeful that they will have Sanders this Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Buffalo would surely need his presence on the field. New England cornerback J.C. Jackson is one of the best cover corners in the league and is expected to shadow Stefon Diggs, with some help over the top.

The Week 16 game between the Bills and Patriots is huge for both teams. If the Bills win, they retake the division lead via divisional record tiebreaker. However, if the Patriots win, New England will clinch the AFC East.

That would drop the Bills to 8-7 and probably tied with a handful of teams for the final wild card spots. This is the largest game of the season for the Bills and losing two receivers to the COVID list surely will not make things any easier.
