The Buffalo Bills have made it no secret that quarterback Josh Allen will be their starter moving forward. Regardless, it seems he is still taking time to stop and smell the roses.

Allen has seemingly started to enjoy all the perks that come with being a franchise quarterback. According to Tim Graham of The Athletic, he acknowledged how excited he is using his newfound star power for charity:

Q: How would you explain the way you use your presence as an NFL quarterback to make a difference in people’s lives through acts of kindness or charity?

A: That’s probably my favorite thing about the platform I have. A small gesture can change somebody’s day. Any time I’m at training camp or out in the public, every kid out there I try to give them at least a high five or sign an autograph. I always looked up to professional athletes, and I’ve seen a couple before. Going to games and just wanting a high five (Allen smacks his hands together) … “I’m never going to wash my hand again!” I was that type of kid who loved sports.

It is encouraging to see Allen is embracing the stardom that comes with being an NFL quarterback. These are the details that often go overlooked when it comes to a new player making themselves at home. It is clear that he is off to a promising start in Buffalo.

In order to keep the good times rolling, Allen will need to start following through on the flashes of promise he showed as a rookie. The Bills made quite the investment when they traded up to take him with the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. They had hoped to take their time with his development as he started the season as a backup to quarterback Nathan Peterman.

Unfortunately, it was not long before he was tasked with taking over under center. He now welcomes an entirely new quarterback room this offseason. The onus will be on Allen to ensure that the Bills' offense can continue to improve in 2019.
