Blake Griffin Trade Odds, Detroit Pistons

Griffin has experienced a tremendously slow start to the 2020-21 season.

The former No. 1 overall pick is averaging just 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists through his first 20 appearances. Griffin is shooting just 36.5 percent from the field, including 31.5 percent from beyond the arc on 6.2 attempts per game.

Potential suitors could be hesitant to make a run at Griffin given the slow start and the fact he has a player option worth north of $38 million next season. There are also durability concerns. However, Griffin still has upside as an athletic stretch-big.

The 31-year-old had one of the best seasons of his career with the Pistons in 2018-19, averaging 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists. He shot a respectable 36 percent from deep on 7.0 attempts per game, and he was a capable playmaker on the ball.

Griffin's playmaking and offensive upside could make him an interesting fit in Miami. He would seem to pair well with Bam Adebayo, another big capable of making plays off the bounce. The Heat also have expendable salaries, notably the expiring contract of Kelly Olynyk.

Boston could use added frontcourt depth, but it might be tough to make the salaries work. The same can be said for the Lakers.

The Charlotte Hornets could be a team to watch. Charlotte is in playoff position, and could move the likes of Cody Zeller and Malik Monk in a trade for Blake Griffin, if it so desired.
