Free agent guard Archie Goodwin has agreed to a training camp deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

This deal would allow the Blazers to bring in a talented slasher at a team-friendly price after shipping prized sixth man Allen Crabbe to the Brooklyn Nets for the soon-waived Andrew Nicholson, who has now found a home in China.

Goodwin has bounced between a couple of teams since finding himself out of the Phoenix Suns organization, splitting his time between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Nets, where he flourished scoring 7.9 points per game in a mere 15.3 minutes per game through 12 appearances.

The Kentucky product is an athletic wing that has proven able to play either guard position, but still struggles with his shot from deep as a career 23.6 percent shooter. At 6-foot-5, his skills are well-rounded enough to earn a spot on an NBA roster as a third-stringer behind the explosive backcourt of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum.

Goodwin's time in the NBA will be dictated by how rapidly he can re-tool his game to be an efficient outside shooter, as he possesses every physical tool to make a useful player in the league.

The 23-year-old only made 15 appearances last season between Brooklyn and New Orleans after his first three seasons with Phoenix.
