Carmelo Anthony has made a triumphant return to the NBA after more than a year away from the game. He's playing great as a third option for the Portland Trail Blazers, and his return has him placed in the history books.

In their game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Melo moved up on the all-time list for free-throws made. He surpassed Shaquille O'Neal's 5,935 freebies for 20th in the list.

Anthony had a decent stat line despite the Blazers losing 136-113 to the Lakers. He finished with 15 points, three rebounds, one assist, and three steals. He has been a very productive addition for a Blazers team that had a terrible start to the 2019-20 campaign.

Previously, Melo shared that the reason for his outstanding play so far is his willingness to play for the team and his base desire to play basketball at a high level.

“That's why I'm able to go out there and do what I do and play the way that I've been playing as of late — because I have a clear mind and I can just play freely,” Anthony says, per ESPN's Baxter Holmes. “I don't have to worry about making mistakes and being pulled or just being on a string or being in a box.”

While it's unlikely that he'll make the top ten of the free throws leaderboard, this season has been a solid one for Carmelo Anthony.
