If the 2019-20 season is canceled altogether, Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard wouldn't be upset.

Why? Because the Blazers star understands that the NBA is going to make the smartest decision possible:

“I'm definitely a little worried that (canceling the 2019-20 season) is a possibility, but I'm encouraged because I know that the league is doing everything in their power to make sure that it does (come back),” Damian Lillard said, via Casey Holdahl of Blazers.com.

“I know that if we don't come back that it will be for the right reasons, it'll be for the sake of all of our health and that's what's first. But I think that at some point we will be back and if not, I think it'll be a great reason for that.”

If the season is canceled, that means the coronavirus will have not died down by July or August. As much as we love basketball and sports in general, the safety of the human population is the most important thing.

If the Blazers and the rest of the world have to continue to social distance and stay inside, there's no way basketball would be resumed.

Lillard and the Blazers were in ninth place in the Western Conference standings before the season was suspended. Dame was averaging 28.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists while shooting 45.7 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from beyond the arc and 88.8 percent from the free-throw line.

If the season starts up again, the Blazers will have center Jusuf Nurkic and forward Zach Collins in the lineup. Both big men were hurt before.
