Portland Trail Blazers center Hassan Whiteside had some loud praise for teammate CJ McCollum, who led all scorers with 41 points on Sunday night's 107-104 win over the Detroit Pistons.

“CJ is a bucket,” said Whiteside after the game. “I was on Google last night, I Googled ‘buckets' and CJ came up. I don't know how, he just did.

Whiteside soon became a cliché machine after being prompted with McCollum's career-high in assists (12), which he also mustered last night.

“Playmaking, man. He out there dropping dimes,” said Whiteside. “I told him he should have been in that commercial with Dame [Lillard]. That ‘dropping dimes' commercial, y'all remember that State Farm? He should have been out there with him.

“He got a career-high in assists and I told him, man ‘just keep doing that.'”

Whiteside has gone from being a toxic presence in the Miami Heat locker room to be a jovial teammate with the Blazers.

He survived the trade deadline and is having arguably his best season in the league, putting together his offensive game, high-level rebounding, and his shot-blocking ability.

While McCollum's 41 points and 12 assists stole the show in the absence of Blazers' All-Star point guard (groin strain), Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points for the first time since nearly three years ago and Whiteside dropped a sweet line with 16 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, and four blocks in a much-needed win.

McCollum has played second-fiddle to Lillard for nearly his entire career for the Blazers, but he's known to step up when it's his time to carry the load. He also put up 27 points against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday and could be due for more of that in the coming games while Lillard recovers from his injury.
