LeBron James is pumped that his “Banana Boat” buddy Carmelo Anthony is back in the league with the Portland Trail Blazers.

After agreeing with Dwyane Wade’s earlier tweet, who claimed it was “about damn time” Melo made it back to the NBA, James couldn’t hide his excitement as he went on an Instagram stories spree.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar posted seven Melo-related IG stories in a span of two minutes – ranging from the initial tweet of Adrian Wojnarowski, to photos of Anthony wearing a Blazers jersey.

Although the pair have certainly have had their battles on the court over the years, James and Anthony’s names will forever be linked together after going first and third overall, respectively in the loaded 2003 NBA Draft – which is still considered as one of the best draft classes in NBA history.

Anthony was also previously linked to team up with James with the  Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason, but the deal never materialized.

A 10-time All-Star, one-time NBA scoring champion and perennial Team USA member, Anthony played his last NBA game back in November as a member of the Houston Rockets.

Now at 35 years old, Anthony displayed he can still put up buckets with the best of them, as he looked good in several workouts with notable stars in the offseason.

Anthony will be joining a Blazers team in need of a scoring boost at the wing position, in a bid to improve from their sluggish 4-8 start. Melo has career averages of 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.
