Shortly after being traded to the Miami Heat, Meyers Leonard posted an emotional message for the Portland Trail Blazers on Twitter.

Portland, I honestly don’t even know where to begin. I moved to PDX when I was just 20 years old. I had dreams of being in the NBA and there I was, a young man, fulfilling my dreams and taking care of my family playing a game I love.

I became a man in Portland. I married my amazing wife in Portland. I feel that I helped create a culture in this organization that is built to last. I am incredibly thankful for each and every opportunity that has come my way for the last 7 years of my NBA career.

To all of my teammates, coaches, staff, media, the Trail Blazers organization, the fans, and to the city of Portland, THANK YOU. I truly gave this city my heart and soul and I sincerely hope I left you a better place and team because of it.

With Love&Loyalty always on my heart, goodbye Portland.

Leonard played his entire seven-year career with the Blazers, posting career averages of 5.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. He's been a key player for Portland over the years and has helped the team become a legitimate contender in the Western Conference.

He didn't do much last season, as he only posted 5.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists. But Blazers fans will remember him for his epic performance in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors, during which he erupted for 30 points as Portland tried to stave off elimination. Unfortunately, they lost that game and were ultimately swept in the series.

Leonard was then shipped to the Heat as part of a four-team trade that revolved around Jimmy Butler being sent to Miami. The seven-year veteran will have another opportunity to contribute to a playoff team, as he's expected to be a key contributor off the bench.

With the addition of Butler, the Heat are now expected to be one of the better teams in the East. They are not expected to be as good as the Milwaukee Bucks, but they're still good enough to make some noise. And with free agency not over, expect Miami to make a couple more moves to improve their roster as they gear up for playoff contention next season.
