The Portland City Council declared June 12 as ‘Trail Blazers day' in honor of the team.

Portland City Mayor Ted Wheeler led the ceremony by officially declaring June 12, 2019 as Trail Blazers day. He then congratulated head coach Terry Stotts, President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey and Senior Vice President of Venue Operations Chris Oxley for a job well done.

Wheeler also thanked the fans for their undying support for the Blazers throughout the campaign. Apart from their success on the basketball court, Wheeler also commended the team's community efforts, per Jamie Hudson of NBC Sports.

“We’re so proud to have a team like the Portland Trail Blazers here and their entire organization and this is a proclamation on behalf of the entire Portland City Council honoring you for the great things you do in this community, not just on the court, but beyond, in helping to serve young people and people throughout this community all throughout this year.”

The Blazers have often struggled in the playoffs in the past few years. However, Damian Lillard and Co. managed to finally get over the hump and went on to reach the Western Conference Finals — exceeding preseason predictions.

Portland's 2018-19 campaign is their best since the 1999-2000 season, and the team will certainly want to carry that momentum heading to next season.
