The Portland Trail Blazers were heavily linked with a trade for Raptors forward OG Anunoby this offseason, but ultimately nothing ever materialized. Ahead of the 2022 NBA Draft, rumors emerged regarding a potential deal for Anunoby involving the Blazers' No. 7 overall pick in the draft. In the end, neither team pulled the trigger on a deal, and Matt Moore of the Action Network has shined some light on to what went south between the two sides.

Talks between the Blazers and Raptors over an Anunoby trade were certainly held, but in the end, the asking price from the Raptors proved too steep for Portland. Moore indicates that Toronto was seeking the No. 7 pick, a future first-rounder, and one of Josh Hart or Nasir Little in the deal. That as a price the Blazers were unwilling to match, which is ultimately why the deal fell through. Portland ended up selecting Shaedon Sharpe with their first-round pick.

Moore also reports that there's some skepticism regarding Anunoby's desire to leave Toronto, or whether he will even be traded, as there is some belief that it is all a smokescreen from opposing executives in order to get some leverage in trade talks.

While Anunoby's future in Toronto remains unclear, the deal with the Blazers fell through, and now we have a better understanding of where things went south. The asking price from the Raptors for Anunoby is steep, which could indicate that Masai Ujiri isn't overly keen on trading Anunoby, unless he's able to get quite the haul in exchange.

Last season in Toronto, Anunoby averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists across 48 games. He shot 44.3% from the field and 36.3% from 3-point range.
