Pau Gasol is no longer a member of the Portland Trail Blazers' roster after the franchise decided to waive him on Wednesday.

Gasol took to Twitter to explain the Blazers' decision and what is next for him.

Gasol has been unable to successfully rehab his left foot following surgery. The center could reportedly have a coaching role with the Blazers moving forward, though.

It also sounds like Gasol isn't ready to retire from the NBA yet. He split time last season with the San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks, appearing in just 30 games. Gasol averaged 3.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 44.7 percent from the field, 46.2 percent from beyond the arc and 70.0 percent from the free-throw line.

The Blazers signed Gasol to back up Hassan Whiteside and Jusuf Nurkic, the latter of whom is scheduled to return from injury around the All-Star break. However, Gasol’s recovery from surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot was just not progressing.

Gasol has career averages of 17.0 points and 9.2 rebounds with the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Spurs and Bucks. He won two titles with Kobe Bryant on the Lakers.

Gasol is a six-time All-Star and was the 2002 Rookie of the Year with the Grizzlies.
