Hockey fans young and old disagree on many things, as is natural when it comes to a generation gap. However, one thing both older and younger hockey fans can agree on is their love for a good hockey fight.
On Sunday night, the St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets delivered such a scrap. The two combatants were Blues forward Brayden Schenn and Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers.

Schenn got in some big blows and Ehlers certainly held his own in this one. In any event, the fight sent fans into a frenzy on Twitter, as hockey fights tend to do.
Brayden Schenn doesn’t give a fuck about your feelings https://t.co/FdNExvUNGz

Good Sasky boy!!!
Head up the whole time, pure offense, what a scrap Schenner— Jay Rosehill (@Jay_D_Rosehill) March 20, 2023
Some Blues fans gave credit to Ehlers, who is not a fighter by any means. Others were simply happy to see some sort of fight in their team, especially if that fight is literal.
Honestly give more credit to Ehlers, not a fighter at all, standing in there with Schenn

The boys have shown more emotion the last few games than all season. Makes me optimistic for next season

Atta boy. Most emotion I've seen or of anyone on this team all season

Though the Blues went on to win this game 3-0, they are not having the greatest season. St. Louis sits sixth in the Central Division, and are 11 points back of the fifth-place Nashville Predators. If the season ended today, they would be in contention for a top-10 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
The Jets, meanwhile, are fourth in the Central Division with a 14-point gap between them and the Blues. Winnipeg holds a four-point lead over the Calgary Flames for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
You have to give Schenn and Ehlers respect for dropping the gloves, regardless of where their teams are in the standings. It is not easy to start throwing fists, and there is always an injury risk involved. Hopefully, neither of them did pick up an injury in the scrap.
