Atlanta Braves talent Marcell Ozuna has been arrested in Georgia after allegedly choking his wife and slamming her against a wall.

According to state police, they witnessed the attack themselves. Per their release on the Braves player:

“witnessed the suspect grabbing the victim by the neck and throwing her against a wall. … In addition to the strangulation attempts, the suspect also struck the victim with his arm which had a cast from a previous injury.”

Marcell Ozuna, who is 30-years-old, is being held in Fulton County jail. Part of the charges is aggravated assault by strangulation, which carries a possible minimum of three years in prison, and a maximum of 20. Obviously, it's yet unknown how the legal system will fully handle the Braves player.

Major League Baseball is set to launch an investigation into the Braves talent; though much of that might not matter given what could happen within the actual legal system.

In a statement, the Braves said:

“We learned of Marcell Ozuna's arrest earlier this evening and immediately informed the Commissioner's Office. The Braves fully support Major League Baseball's policy on domestic violence which stresses to the fullest that our society cannot and will not tolerate domestic violence in any form. Until the investigation is completed, we will have no further comment.”

This is a developing story. We'll keep readers posted on Braves talent Marcell Ozuna and his standing in MLB and legally as more information comes to the surface.

H/T ESPN for the statements.
