Free agent center Willie Reed has agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the L.A. Clippers, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes.
Reed was one of the best effort and energy guys in the league last season, putting up value numbers in limited playing time under Hassan Whiteside as a member of the Miami Heat.
The 6-foot-11 big man averaged 5.3 points on 56.8 percent from the field and 4.7 rebounds through 14.5 minutes per game.
An undrafted player out of Saint Louis University, Reed made his name with the Brooklyn Nets in the 2015-16 season and should find a niche in the NBA as long as he keeps providing his chip-on-the-shoulder attitude off the bench.
His energetic play helped an 11-30 Heat team to turn the tables midseason and finish 30-11 — a tiebreaker shy from making the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
