Brian Kelly’s net worth in 2021 is $30 million. This is according to multiple reputable outlets such as Wealthy Persons.

Brian Kelly was born in Everett, Massachusetts. Kelly first attended school at St. John’s Preparatory School. Afterwards, he would take up his undergraduate degree at Assumption College and took a bachelor’s degree in political science. Kelly also started his football career with Assumption, playing for them as a linebacker.

After college, Kelly would immediately kickstart his coaching career. He joined the Assumption College Football coaching staff as a linebackers coach and defensive coordinator. His three year coaching stint in Assumption also saw him coach the women’s softball team.

After three years, Kelly would be accepted as part of the Grand Valley State University staff. Kelly initially served as the grad assistant and assistant coach. Afterwards, he eventually rose up the ranks to coach the football team, where Kelly finished with a 118-35-2 record in Division II. Under his coaching reign, Kelly also helped the team win two championships while also appearing in six times in the playoffs. Due to his team’s impressive achievements, he was also announced Coach of the Year twice in 2002 and 2003.

After his Division II stint, Kelly went to coach for Central Michigan University in 2004. Although this was a team that hardly stayed relevant, Kelly stirred the Chippewas football team in 2005 to its first winning season since 1998.

In 2006, Kelly took over the head coaching reigns of the University of Cincinnati’s football program. He would immediately give them winning seasons with the team’s second ever 10-win season in 58 years. This feat also allowed him to bring home the Big East Coach of the Year Award in 2007.

After a successful first coaching year with the Bearcats, Kelly followed that up with a 11-3 record. In the process, the Bearcats were also able to clinch a BCS berth in the 2008 Orange Bowl. Afterwards, Kelly’s Bearcats would follow that up with an undefeated season going 12-0. Furthermore, the Bearcats would go on to clinch another BCS berth in the Sugar Bowl.

Although Kelly’s run was relatively successful with the Bearcats, the relationship would eventually turn sour after he accepted the offer from Notre Dame. To make matters worse, this happened in the midst of the Bearcats’ campaign in the Sugar Bowl. Kelly wouldn’t coach the squad in the Sugar Bowl contest against the Florida Gators. As a result, Kelly finished his Cincinnati coaching stint with a remarkable 34-6 record.

After leaving behind disappointed Cincinnati fans, Kelly announced he would coach the Notre Dame Fighting Irish starting the 2010 season. Kelly would have a lengthy career with Notre Dame, coaching 153 games in the span of 11 years, where he held a 113-40 record. With his remarkable record, Kelly is the winningest coach in Notre Dame’s history books.

He has coached the team to one BCS national championship game in the 2013 BCS National Championship game. In the same season, Kelly guided the team to a 12-0 record which merited another Coach of the Year Award. Unfortunately, the Fighting Irish failed to win its first national championship after conceding to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Although Kelly failed to win the national championship, he was still rewarded by Notre Dame with a five-year extension.

Since that extension, Notre Dame has continued to be a national title contender. Under Kelly’s watch, the Fighting Irish have appeared in the Super Bowl for three straight years. He would also lead Notre Dame to a 10-win season in 2015. Given his coaching brilliance, Notre Dame offered another extension, which would last until the 2021 season, that Kelly would agree to.

On September 2020, Notre Dame wanted to continue to enjoy the coaching greatness of their winningest coach. And to secure his services, Kelly received another contract extension that would last until 2024. Although Kelly would coach the Fighting Irish until 2021 season, his stay only lasted until there. To everyone’s surprise, Kelly recently made an announcement that he’ll be leaving Notre Dame for LSU.

The LSU tigers and Brian Kelly reportedly agreed to a 10-year $95 million deal with additional incentives. This came after the departure of coach Ed Orgeron, who stirred the program  to a national title in 2019. After Kelly inked the deal, this turned him into the third highest paid college football coach in history. But in terms of total value, this is the biggest contract in the history of college football.

Although this was a move that will surely give Kelly a huge payday, this move didn’t sit well for some. As expected, Notre Dame fans were furious over Kelly’s departure. In fact, Grace Kelly, who’s Brian Kelly’s daughter and still finishing her studies in Notre Dame, is prepared for the incoming backlash from her schoolmates. Aside from the fans, former Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn also chimed in.

In Fox Sports Radio, Quinn stated “…I think the way he did it was more about his ego and how he feels like he was treated at times maybe at Notre Dame, or in this instance how he was treated, not immediately just someone turning and saying, ‘Hey let’s write the check so you can stay here in South Bend.’ But I think it had more to do with that.”

Outside of the Notre Dame's community, even a U.S. congressman has raised eyebrows against Kelly’s lucrative signing. According to Rep. Bill Pascrell, he has requested more information from LSU, as the Democrat congressman suspects the signing to have violated the tax code.

There’s no question, that Brian Kelly has worked his way to one of the best college football coaches of all time. And his recent lucrative signing with LSU will only reward him for a decorated career.  Nevertheless, were you at all stunned by Brian Kelly’s net worth in 2021?
