Cornerback Cyrus Jones is seeking to make an NFL comeback, despite undergoing open-heart surgery in November, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Jones, 26, was cut by the Baltimore Ravens in November and was quickly signed by the Denver Broncos. However, when he met with the team doctors in Denver, they discovered a congenital coronary defect that required open-heart surgery.

Jones is now eyeing an NFL comeback, just nine months after his surgery:

“When you go through something like that, it forces you to dig deep and kind of figure out who you truly are, what you’ve really got in you and how much you’re willing to sacrifice to get back out there and chase your dream again,” Cyrus Jones said, via Glenn Graham of the Baltimore Sun. “I found out that I’m even more unbreakable than I thought I was. I’ve been through a lot in my career and having all that thrown on top of it definitely could have been a catastrophic thing. I could have just kind of given up, but that’s never been me.”

Jones also told The Baltimore Sun that he's been training four times a week and is hoping to soon be cleared by his doctors. Furthermore, his agent said he’s spoken to a couple of teams that have expressed interest in bringing him in for a workout.

During his time with the Ravens, Jones mostly was a punt returner. However, when he played with the New England Patriots, the team that drafted him, he played mostly cornerback.
