Myles Garrett is a man on a mission. After serving his indefinite suspension, the 24- year old Cleveland Browns defensive end is back in championship mentalityto the thrill of newly hired defensive coordinator Joe Woods.

“I think Myles has the right mindset in terms of wanting to be MVP and all of that, but we just need him to be the best player for us that he can be, and whatever happens, happens,” Woods told reporters in an interview this week, per NFL.com. “Right now, I think he is in a good place.”

After being named to the Pro Bowl in his second year in the league, Garrett's third season with the Browns was marred with controversy following an unfortunate incident with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph in November of 2019. He was immediately issued an indefinite suspension by the NFL for swinging his helmet on Rudolph and attacking him.

Three months later, he was reinstated by the league for the 2020 season and has been back in the Browns roster.

Woods, having seen a lot of great talent in his time around the league, believes in the young star and thinks that Garrett is more than ready to lead.

“I think as a young player in this league, you go through a lot of different things so I definitely think he is going to learn and grow from the situation that happened last year,” the Browns coach said. “We really have not talked about it after he got back and after he was reinstated. He is focused on getting better. He is focused on being a good teammate. He has been in the meetings. He is trying to step up and take more of a leadership role. I definitely think he is moving in the right direction and has the right mindset.”

The Browns are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 6-10 season in 2019. With Myles Garrett and a few other key pieces making a return to the squad, all signs are pointing upwards for Cleveland.
