After the drama ensuing from Odell Beckham Jr.’s father on Tuesday, the Cleveland Browns find themselves in a sticky situation. Baker Mayfield was criticized heavily and we finally hear his response from the unresolved issue.
According to Ben Axelrod, Baker Mayfield claims he was not “hurt” by the criticisms. However, he was “surprised” by what transpired. Mayfield is known to have some pretty thick skin, as he’s received doubts from many throughout his entire career. However, this situation could technically hurt the relationship between Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr.
Baker Mayfield asked if he would accept an apology from OBJ: "yeah, I think any sort of conversation would go a long way."
Is Baker hurt?
"Hurt? No. Surprised? Yes."

Additionally, the Browns starting quarterback was also asked about the videos Beckham Jr.’s father shared. Although Mayfield was accused of not wanting Beckham Jr. to succeed, the quarterback seems to be in disagreement.
Baker Mayfield on Odell Beckham Sr. video: "I think naturally he wants his son to succeed. I can't blame him for that. I want Odell to succeed. So that's where we're at."

Baker Mayfield believed he and Odell Beckham Jr. had an “open line of communication” between the two. This is why he felt more shocked than upset when the turmoil ensued on Tuesday.

It’s commonly known how tight Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry are, as they’ve been teammates throughout most of their lives. Smartly, Mayfield reached out to the Browns’ other star receiver to keep things smooth between himself and Landry.
Baker Mayfield said that he's talked to Jarvis Landry about the OBJ situation. Said he doesn't want to draw a line between Jarvis and OBJ.

Lastly, Cleveland’s starting quarterback was asked if he wants to maintain his relationship with Beckham Jr. Rather than out-right saying ‘yes,’ Baker claimed, “I would take anything to have a winning team right now. Our focus needs to be on winning.”
Baker Mayfield asked if he wants OBJ to remain in Cleveland: "I would take anything to have a winning team right now. Our focus needs to be on winning." Notes that distractions like yesterday can take away from that.

Although he was the center of attention to the father of Beckham Jr., Mayfield seems to be approaching the situation with professionalism. It’s all he can do in a moment like this, as a negative reaction could shake the foundation of the franchise.
It appears as though the Browns are cursed, as they can’t seem to get it right. We’ll see what happens in Cleveland, but one thing is for sure, this thing is along from being over. Keep an eye on Odell Beckham Jr., as the Browns must find a resolution with their disgruntled star.
