Heading into the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns hold the luxury of possessing the first overall selections, which will give them the first pickings of the entire crop of talented prospects available. There is a growing sentiment that the Browns may be leaning toward bringing aboard of the top quarterbacks.

Among those players at the position is Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield, who has garnered much praise about what he could bring to the table at the next level. With that in mind, Mayfield made it quite clear what he believes he could do if the Browns were to take him with the first overall pick in late April, according to Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk.

“If anyone is going to turnaround the Cleveland Browns, it’s going to be me,” Mayfield said, immediately establishing that he didn’t come to Indianapolis to tell people what they wanted to hear.

The 22-year-old has much confidence in his ability on the field to make a significant impact on the Browns along with any other NFL franchise. His confidence may stem from his impressive collegiate career that he capped off with a strong senior campaign where he earned the Heisman Trophy award. He led the nation’s most productive offense while completing 71 percent of his passes for 4,340 yards and 41 touchdown passes.

If selected by the Browns, Mayfield would have the chance to step in as possibly being the next face of the franchise at a position that the organization has struggled to find sustained success since being reinstated back into the league back in 1999. There may have the desire to be the savior for Cleveland, it doesn't appear that will be the route at this time with other quarterbacks such as USC's Sam Darnold, UCLA's Josh Rosen, and Wyoming's Josh Allen each being considered ahead of him to be the choice for the organization.

There was also a report about a month ago that the Browns were unlikely to make Mayfield their choice at the first overall pick as Darnold has commonly been penciled in at that spot. That said, much could change in this regard over the next several weeks with the NFL Scouting Combine, school Pro Days, and individual pre-draft workouts all coming up.

If anything, this makes it clear that Mayfield has a huge amount of self-confidence for what he can do on the field.
