The Cleveland Browns‘ secondary will be welcoming a boost on their lineup in time for their divisional-round matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The team will reportedly activate cornerbacks Denzel Ward and Kevin Johnson from the reserve/COVID-19 list heading into a must-win game on Sunday, per NFL Network‘s Tom Pelissero.

Ward last played in their Week 16 tilt against the New York Jets where the team fielded a depleted receiving corps. Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and KhaDarel Hodge all missed the game for the Browns which led them to suffer a 23-16 loss. The former Ohio State standout tallied two tackles in the loss, accounting for a regular-season total of 46 made through 12 games played.

On the other hand, Johnson last took the field against the Jets as well where he contributed a single tackle. Both of them landed on the team's reserve/COVID-19 list after testing positive for the virus before their Week 17 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Without them, backup cornerbacks in Terrance Mitchell and Robert Jackson both slotted in on the wings and defended the aerial attack en route to a 24-22 victory. It was the same story in the Wild Card round as the Browns managed to defend the Steelers' receiving corps for a 48-37 upset triumph.

Both of their returns will help the Browns as they aim to limit opposing quarterback Patrick Mahomes along with his receiving weapons in Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, and Mecole Hardman.

The AFC divisional-round matchup will commence on Jan. 17 as the Browns visit the reigning Super Bowl champions at Arrowhead Stadium.
