The Cleveland Browns are cleaning house after a disappointing 2019 NFL campaign.

First, Freddie Kitchens was fired from his post as head coach. Now, the Browns have decided to hand out some pink slips to front-office executives.

According to multiple reports on Tuesday, the Browns are preparing to fire general manager John Dorsey and vice president Alonzo Highsmith.

Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen of ESPN were the first to break the news that Cleveland was “leaning toward” dismissing both Dorsey and Highsmith, a report that was corroborated by Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Pat Leonard of The New York Daily News then reported that that Browns will be firing both executives.

While the Browns severely underwhelmed this season, their apparent decision to can both Dorsey and Highsmith is somewhat surprising.

Dorsey took over as general manager in December 2017 and built what looked to be the framework of a contender, drafting pieces such as Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb and Denzel Ward and making numerous big moves in free agency and through trades.

However, Dorsey's wheeling and dealing has not resulted in a whole lot of success, as Cleveland went 7-8-1 during his first season at the helm in 2018 and followed that up with a 6-10 campaign this year.

Dorsey had previously served as general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Highsmith joined the Browns' front office in January 2018, following Dorsey. Prior to his time in Cleveland, he served as a senior personnel executive for the Green Bay Packers for six years.

Highsmith was also a former No. 3 overall draft pick of the Houston Oilers back in 1987.
