With a potential Deshaun Watson suspension on the horizon, the Cleveland Browns are looking to expand their quarterback room. As they look to sign Josh Rosen to a one-year deal, they could now have the depth they've been looking for.

The Browns have already indicated that Jacoby Brisset will take over quarterback duties if Deshaun Watson misses time. But before signing Rosen, the only other rostered quarterback was Josh Dobbs.

The apparent signing of Josh Rosen comes just hours after the Browns brought both him and AJ McCarron in for workouts. Rosen and McCarron have had interesting careers, but have primarily held down backup roles in the NFL.

After being the 10th overall pick in the 2018 draft, many believed that Rosen could become one of the game's top quarterbacks. Instead, he has had a career full of ups and downs. But his opportunity with the Browns could be just what he needs to correct his career.

Josh Rosen currently has a starting record of 3-13. He has posted a stat line of 2,864 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions.

While he did have an opportunity as a starter in 2018, he hasn't been able to earn another chance since then. He started just three games for the Miami Dolphins in 2019, but primarily served as a backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Josh Rosen spent time on both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers practice squads in 2020. He then became a backup with the Atlanta Falcons last season. He threw just 11 passes, which resulted in 19 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions.

As Rosen looks for the opportunity to break into a quarterback room, the Browns could be a prime landing spot. If Watson misses time, Josh Rosen will elevate to their QB2. At just 25 years old, Rosen could still create a long career for himself in the NFL.
