The Cleveland Browns are bringing back receiver Breshad Perriman on a one-year deal, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Breshad Perriman is coming off one of his best seasons in the NFL, becoming one of Baker Mayfield's favorite targets. He played in 10 games (started two) in 2018, finishing with 16 receptions for 340 yards and two touchdowns.

Although his stats won't blow you away, he flashed some his potential that convinced the Baltimore Ravens to select him in the first round in 2015.

He's turns 26 in September and possesses very good athleticism for a player his size (6-2, 215 pounds). One of the biggest reasons why he was considered a bust with the Ravens was his inability to stay healthy.

Despite being a big target and a receiver who ran an unofficial 4.19 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, his career never developed as expected. After struggling mightily with the Ravens, the Browns took him in; the receiver flourished as a result.

His contract is only a one-year, $4 million deal, which is basically a prove-it deal for Breshad Perriman. He has to prove that he can stay healthy for an entire season, not merely that he can perform well.

Being a young receiver on a generally young Browns roster, he could be part of their long-term plans. Due to his long injury history, however, this short deal was a smart move by the organization.

As of now, he is nothing more than a deep threat and a depth player. Perriman's return will give him a chance to continue his growth with the Browns' offense and develop a stronger level of chemistry with Mayfield.
