For the second straight week, the Cleveland Browns enter a playoff game as the underdog, this time against defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round.

A week after stunning the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card Round, 48-37, and the Browns head into Arrowhead Stadium as 10-point underdogs against the Chiefs.

But for former Browns offensive tackle Joe Thomas, Cleveland shouldn’t be written off so quickly, as he believes the team has a chance to pull off another upset.

In an appearance on NFL GameDay, Thomas listed the reasons why he thinks that the Browns can beat Kansas City and continue their playoff run that was 17 years in the making.

The 36-year old Thomas, who spent all his 11 seasons in the NFL with the Browns, first compared Cleveland's matchup against the Chiefs to their game against the Steelers, where not a lot of people gave them a chance.

He then added that the Cleveland team that beat Pittsburgh will get better as they get back the likes of head coach Kevin Stefanski and guard Joel Bitonio, who has been activated from the team's reserve / COVID-19 list after missing the game last week.

Thomas, a Pro Bowler in 10 of his 11 seasons with Cleveland, then mentioned that the Chiefs have not played a competitive football game in 20 days after finishing the regular season with the NFL’s best record. Though he admitted that it could just be his “inner Browns fan” speaking, he says that he feels that the team’s run will continue and not end on Sunday.

Former Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins, meanwhile, agreed with Thomas, saying that the Browns will be playing loose after beating their AFC North rivals last week.
