Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has finally set things straight about his rumored beef with star quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Stefanski and Mayfield made headlines recently for the wrong reasons after Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com dropped a rather shocking report, indicating that the franchise quarterback felt like “Stefanski’s playcalling didn’t always put him in position to succeed or play to his strengths.”

After hearing the report, Stefanski quickly defused the issue and highlighted that is far from the case. The Browns tactician added that he and Mayfield have maintained a “good relationship” like it was the year prior.

“My relationship with Baker is no different (than last year). Good relationship,” Stefanski said, per Zac Jackson of The Athletic.

For what it's worth, it is not only Kevin Stefanski who has addressed the issue and denied it. Baker Mayfield himself was pretty upset with the news, taking it to Twitter to slam some people in the local media who “continue to be drama stirring reporters.” Mayfield called it “clickbait” before telling the reporter to not use him as a “puppet.”

Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt echoed the same sentiment, pointing out that he has never seen any issue between the QB and their head coach.

“No, absolutely not,” Van Pelt said about any tension between Stefanski and Mayfield. “I have seen zero of that. Kevin is in our meetings every day. He comes in, and we talk through everything that was installed every day. I know the line of communication is wide open between those two guys. I know they have met weekly on Tuesdays to make sure everything was good. I do not feel that at all. I do not. Kevin has always been open and very communicative with all of the players and coaches, as well.”

Considering the Browns' disappointing 2021 campaign after making significant strides in 2021, it is no wonder why some are looking at the reasons why the team didn't have the same success they had in 2020.

By the looks of it, though, it's not any beef between Stefanski and Mayfield.
