Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. missed practice on Monday as a result of an illness, according to Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Beckham's illness comes just three days before the Browns' preseason opener, as they will play host to the Washington Redskins on Thursday night.

The Browns acquired Beckham in a trade with the New York Giants earlier this offseason, sending a first-round draft pick, a third-rounder and young safety Jabrill Peppers to the Giants in return.

Beckham is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played 12 games, missing the final four weeks of the season due to a quad injury. During the time he was on the field, he hauled in 77 receptions for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the Giants with the 12th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft. He went on to have a spectacular rookie year, hauling in 91 receptions for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 12 games, making the Pro Bowl as a result.

Beckham went on to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons, but the last two years, he has participated in just 16 contests total due to various injuries.

The Giants grew tired of Beckham's antics both on and off the field, which was the primary reason why they traded him not even a full year after signing him to a six-year contract extension.

Cleveland went 7-8-1 this past season, marking its best finish since winning 10 games all the way back in 2007.
