The Cleveland Browns have requested permission to interview Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni for their head-coaching position, according to Albert Breer of The Monday Morning Quarterback.

This is not only the next guy on an incredibly long list of potential Browns' coaching candidates, but it is the second Colts' coordinator on their list, as they have also requested permission to interview with Indianapolis defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.

Sirianni just completed his first season as the Colts' offensive coordinator, leading the team to the seventh-ranked offense in the NFL.

The 37-year-old landed his first NFL coaching job with the Kansas City Chiefs back in 2009, serving as the offensive quality control coach for one year before being named the assistant quarterbacks coach in 2010. He then returned to his post as Chiefs offensive quality control coach in 2011, and in 2012, he was promoted to wide receivers coach.

Sirianni then departed for the then-San Diego Chargers in 2013, taking on the job of offensive quality control coach before being elevated to the position of quarterbacks coach in 2014. He held that post for two years and was then given the job of wide receivers coach in 2016.

He remained the Chargers' wide receivers coach for two seasons before joining the Colts in 2018.

The Browns went 7-8-1 this season, marking their best record since going 10-6 all the way back in 2007. Cleveland fired Hue Jackson in the middle of the season and handed the reins over to Gregg Williams, who led the team to a 5-3 record and even briefly vaulted the club into playoff contention.
